Thanks for this vid it gave me motivation to play it for the first time. I never got to play any generation after Gold/Silver as life took over. It's also great to read the comments from those nostalgic of this game instead of red/blue.

ngl, they have brilliant ideas, if only they streamline it more, make moment to moment of character interaction more optional, like it only happen when youre at a certain point during a certain moment (like between trial 2 and 4) make story nails only focusing on Lillie and her family and Hau's growth on realising that its okay to give your best and fail and try again instead of giving up and putting on a facade that he never serious to begin with the game wouldnt have much hate as it getting. the game is great and lot of loves and effort put into it, we know it is especially now when compared to ANY of switch main pokemon title.

I grew up with Sapphire playing on a Cobalt SP when I was 9, right after the game came out in the US. Good times. Fun fact, Ruby and Sapphire just so happened to come out in Japan on my grandpa's 65th birthday, November 21, 2002.

I combined a Japanese blue & a U.S. grey now I got a “”jusco”” & cool blue & grey. I’m not buying a jusco for over $100 that could just be a Frankenstein.

On a bit of a Random Tens binge, and must say, would have been amazing to see the other games reviewed. All the best for wherever you are now. And the artstyle for Let's Go was incredible!

Pokeballs never actually "missed" in the first gen - as in, there wasn't a chance to miss in addition to the odds to catch. "Missing" was just the way Gen 1 translated a failed catch against Legendaries, the idea being that it was almost impossible to even hit them with a ball in the first place. This probably just made more sense to the devs at the time than putting them in a ball over and over again just to have them break out an absurd amount of times. Basically as soon as you threw the ball the game knew if it would fail to catch; if the catch would fail, it would "miss". Whenever you saw a Legendary go into a ball, it wasn't "the odds finally playing out" - it meant you'd finally caught it. I agree it was a good change though because it still feels better, even if underneath it's mechanically identical. I just think it's worth understanding that Gen 1 wasn't depriving you of the chance to even catch a Pokemon by adding a "failed throw" mechanic on top of the normal catch rate. And the reason you thought they "had to be asleep to not miss" is because it's virtually impossible to catch a Legendary in the first place without status, especially Sleep. The only time you would EVER see a "successful throw" & therefore capture is if they're asleep.

It's not a _guaranteed_ travesty, as some people just by pure chance will have the stars align making the fight a relative breeze. Then they see everyone else complaining about it and just think "Huh? What are you talking about, that fight was easy...." without having any comprehension why it was so easy for them in the first place, and they just think "Idk, I just played the game....so get good I guess?" The insanity is that even if you were 5 levels over, but had a male starter and didnt get a burn, it's almost a certainty that Quilava wouldn't have survived, let alone what would happen after that. Without careful planning and consideration for the battle, or a TON of luck, it's incredibly easy for the battle to pose a problem to the average team at that point in the game.

One of my favorite GameCube games is Pikmin. I love survival games, and I'm always on the lookout for a decent one.

"In depth review" Brother you skipped over anything and rverything that wasnt a major plot point in the game... thats called a review. In depth i was expecting towns, gym leaders, and routes to be explained. But nope just a rush through the story mode as a "in depth review" oh well

I have the gamestop exclusive pikachu 2DS XL, got it back when I was in 6th grade. It's so adorable and even though it's worth a lot now, I don't think I could ever bring myself to sell it. too many memories with that console

Idk what it is, I've played X/Y like 3-4 times but I just can't get myself to like it. I really want to but I just find some parts of the game really bland or straight up annoying. The rivals are some of the most annoying characters in a Pokemon game for me, Team Flare is trash, the Gym Leaders have no personality other than Korrina or Clemont, and the battles weren't fun at all. I can appreciate the soundtrack, the beauty of the Kalos region and pieces of Mega Evolution lore but it's just a big stack of unpolished content. I really hope Legends Z-A does Kalos justice and gives it the love it deserves.

My only gripes with Gen II are the following: 1- Pokémon League being so low level, and being the only place to grind to level 100 2- Batteries dying and losing your save files 3- Pokémon movesets are terrible for the most part. Some Pokémon are almost unusable because their typing doesn't match their stats (since this was before the physical/special split from Gen IV). Some don't learn any move of their own type by leveling.

Alright, I'm gonna break it down for any of you still salty about the Battle Frontier. It was never going to happen. It wasn't "a Promise unfulfilled." They promised you nothing. The proof of concept was meant to be a nod to the facility, not a "stay tuned, we're working on it." More over, they were never going to add it in the first place, not just because they didn't see an audience for it, but because they would have had to build it from scratch and test it. HGSS had Platinum's Battle Frontier, fully made and already tested, sitting around on the ROM for them to copy and paste into the remakes. They didn't even change the way it looked. That's why we got the Battle Maison. Why would they recreate Emerald's Battle Frontier from scratch and go through all the trouble and time of testing it, when they had a perfectly good, fully tested battle facility just sitting around? They gave you Hoenn's equivalent of the Mew under the truck, and you're mad that you didn't get the battling facility that you wanted. Have some perspective, maybe.

x&y era is my favorite generation in the series soo im glad the x&y movies have a fun unique story to them

One of the best things about BW is that you could only use Unovan pokemon until you finish the story which is an amazing idea that every new gen should do, I mean what’s the point of having a whole new region if it’s mostly filled with old pokemon that you know you can rely on instead of forcing you to strategize around new and unfamiliar pokemon? I think new generations would be more exciting if you had to constantly work with new pokemon you aren’t familiar with instead of being able to rely on older pokemon I don’t mind how B2W2 brought back older pokemon since fans who played BW would already be familiar with the new pokemon which would make it pointless to restrict it to just them a second time in a row
